Happy Tuesday lovelies!  In this post I will be sharing with you about my recent trip to Mauritius!  If you are wondering where in the world is Mauritius, it’s a beautiful country just east of Madagascar!  The locals actually refer to it as an island. We traveled in early/mid November and had beautiful warm weather the entire time (e.g., 80’s) and we stayed at nearly all sides of the island.

As my husband and I brought our infant along, we mostly just stayed at the hotels/resorts the entire time to get some relaxation which was so nice.  All the hotels that we stayed at had many activities to keep us busy (e.g., snorkeling, sailing, glass bottom boat ride, dolphin watching etc.).

Here are the hotels we stayed at and the highlights!

Hilton Mauritius

We stayed here for the first few nights and loved it!  I absolutely loved the beach; It was warm, white sand and so relaxing.  It is definitely more secluded and not busy which was nice and peaceful.  The main pool was also great, warm and had many waterfalls (my infant loved them).  One of the main highlights for us at this hotel was the nightly entertainment. Every night we were there the hotel had live music on the beach!  What a beautiful way to spend each night. We were able to enjoy a date night each evening. Also we loved how helpful the staff was and they asked us what type of pureed baby food our son would like to have for his meals!  This was so wonderful as they catered to our sons dietary needs and served it wherever we were, for example, the pool,  the room etc. and it was all complimentary! We also enjoyed dolphin watching and the glass bottom boat (to view the reef) with our little one!

St.  Regis

This was my most favorite hotel that we stayed at in Mauritius!  The resort is so beautiful with a very large  main pool that is a beautiful cobalt blue color and the staff was so attentive to our needs.  The beach was also gorgeous with white sand, warm water and just like the Hilton, St. Regis was more secluded.  During our stay we had an ocean front suite and this was my first experience with a personal butler. WOW, this was so helpful to have!!  The butler helped us unpack, prepare tea time, and helped us repack. It was so nice to have the extra help while traveling with an infant.  The only thing we were missing at this hotel was night entertainment. We stayed midweek so possibly the hotel just did not have night entertainment the night that we stayed there.  Another added bonus about the suite was that we had access to a smaller pool that was located next to our suite and the ocean. This was so convenient for us as we didn’t need to pack everything for our infant and make our way to the main pool.

Radison

This hotel has great reviews.  What I found to be interesting is that it was a mix of families and couples which gave it a unique vibe.  It was booked to maximum capacity and felt more congested than the other hotels we stayed at prior. This was not bad given that I live in the city.  The one thing you do need to be aware of is that the beach will have seaweed at this time. The hotel does clear it but it’s not fully gone. We found this beach to be small and not as “paradise” feeling.  The hotel does provide pureed baby food and if you are a guacamole fan like me, the breakfast buffet had fresh guacamole (none of the others had this). My husband and I had a candlelight dinner experience that had a beautiful night setting with candles, a full moon and an Indian Ocean view.  This was a hightling for me. :)

Westin

The Westin was also another favorite of mine!  We had a corner room suite with an amazing balcony that had swinging chairs and a rotating sunbed!  This hotel was also child friendly, again we had fresh pureed baby food delivered to wherever we like.  The main pool has a beautiful view of the Indian Ocean which is so lovely! The beach is smaller but it has a nice rock barrier that makes it a great place for swimming.  We also had lounge access which was nice for evening horderves and cocktails. One of the evenings we had live entertainment on the beach which was nice while watching the sunset.  The hotel has a kids club and we were able to use some of the sand toys for our infant. The staff was also very attentive to our needs and took the time to chat and say hello.

Hopefully this will provide some insight into where you should stay in Mauritius!  It’s definitely a country you should travel to!

Below is more information on how you can get free nights at some of these hotels!!

The cash rates at Hilton Mauritius tend to be high. For example in November they exceed $400 per night. This make this resort a great deal when booking a stay using points with only 70,000 points per night and even better use for free weekend night certificates that you can either earn when you have American Express Surpass card or receive every year if you have American Express Aspire card. The latter comes also with $250 per year credit that can be used in Hilton resorts worldwide (so you can use it toward for example dining at Hilton Mauritius or other resorts) and $250 per year credit for airline incidental fees, such as baggage fees, or seat upgrade fees.  When you apply for American Express Hilton Aspire using this link you can earn 150,000 bonus points, which would give you two nights at Hilton Mauritius (plus a free weekend certificate to stay 3rd night there too). You will also have Diamond status with Hilton, which gives you free breakfast at Hilton hotels. This can easily save hundreds of dollars if you stay a few nights in a high end resorts such as Hilton Mauritius. The Diamond status also gives you many other benefits, including upgraded rooms.

Or you can apply using this link for American Express Hilton Surpass card and earn 140,000 bonus points which would give you two nights at Hilton Mauritius. You can also earn a free weekend certificate and you will have a Gold status with Hilton which also gives you free breakfasts.

When you click any of these links, you may be initially shown a different American Express credit card to apply for. You can choose the card you want by selecting "View all Cards with a Referral Offer" near the top of the page.
